Telegram Messenger has launched major updates to its app with features such as Topics in Groups and Collectible Usernames.
According to the company, voice-to-text video messaging is available on the platform. Premium users can also access a bunch of new Emoji packs.
"I feel particularly excited about today’s Telegram update. It adds topics to large groups, transforming these linear chats into slick mobile-friendly versions of good old Internet Forums," Pavel Durov (Telegram CEO and Founder) noted.
Groups that have more than 200 members may now be able to enable "Topics" so they can create separate spaces for each topic. This allows chats to be read easily within the group.
Telegram users can now create multiple "Collectible Usernames", which can be assigned to their accounts. These usernames can also be made public via Telegram channels. This allows others to find them and get in touch with them.
"Topics today have many features, including the ability close and pin topics and flexible notification options. There are also lots of animated emoji that can be used as topic icons. Telegram used the delay of two weeks caused by Apple's review process to expand these threaded groups into something more powerful.
Additionally, premium users can get a text transcript in seconds by using "voice-to text for video messages".
This feature was available previously to premium users. It allows you to convert any voice messages to text for times when you find it easier to read than to listen, the company said.
The platform also introduced 12 new Emoji Packs for Premium Users, so they can use these Emojis in any caption and message.
