Instagram has announced the rollout out of an in-app scheduling feature to all professional accounts. This means businesses, creators and "influencers" can forgo third-party apps and Creator Studio if they want to schedule posts for later.
The tool has been in the testing phase for a while now among select users. It enables businesses and creators to schedule posts, reels and carousels right in the app up to 75 days in advance.
Why hasn't the feature come to regular users too? That's not clear yet. But it makes sense that Instagram wouldn't want to launch it to the masses right away. Of course, anyone can switch their account to a "Professional Account" and access this tool whenever they wish to.
No more using third-party apps to schedule posts. This should come in highly convenient for social media managers too.
Upon creating a post, the user can access the scheduling tool by going to “Advanced settings.” There's a brand new “Schedule this post” toggle sitting here. Next, you can select the time and date you want the post to be published. You need to navigate back to the Instagram post flow and click “Schedule” to complete the process.
All the scheduled posts can be seen in the “Scheduled Content” section that is accessible via the hamburger menu. It also lets you reschedule content if needed.
Apart from the new scheduling tool, Instagram also released “Achievements” in Reels. Achievements are unlocked for certain actions the user such as collaborating with another creator, engaging with their community by making Reels more interactive, using trending audio/effects and more.
The one major change which has still not been made that the Instagram community at large has been clamoring for is the ability to add links to post. The best a user can do is include a link in their bio or Stories.
If they want to add something specific like a cool app building project or something else they're working on, they'd have to a build a landing page with all the relevant links on a site like Linktree and then share that one link of their user profile on their Instagram bio.
We guess link sharing in posts is unlikely to arrive on Instagram anytime soon, given that it's in the app's best interest to prevent people from leaving.
