WhatsApp Might Soon Let You Talk To Yourself

(Facebook) Meta-owned WhatsApp was seen to be testing a self-messaging feature that will allow users to send messages to themselves easily, an option that's sadly missing in the messaging application, as many folks would undoubtedly agree.

WhatsApp is now letting beta testers try out “messages with yourself”. This comes following the launch of the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.24.2 update. The beta app's version for both Android and iOS are getting this change.

With this, WhatsApp will have a new chat option called “Me (You)” which allows you to send messages to yourself.

The only way to message yourself on the app right now is to create a group with yourself as the Admin and sole group member. Otherwise, there's a complicated wa.me method to achieve the same. Both feel rather troublesome, especially when you want to quickly send yourself a link to a baking recipe or something, and using email or a notes app doesn't seem to be worth the bother.

Apart from offering the convenience of a notes app within the IM interface, the WhatsApp self-messaging update can be a quick way to transfer files between your devices too.
